What appears publicly
Public directory profiles display the details an account submits and an administrator approves. Billing, account contact details, and reviewer email addresses stay private.
Reviewers
Reviewers sign in with Google or LinkedIn so we know a real person wrote the review. We keep the name they share, their rating and text, and scrambled fingerprints of their provider account and verified email address, which stop duplicate reviews and owners reviewing themselves. We never store the address itself and the business never sees it. Every review is held for moderation, and approved reviews show first name and last initial.
Spam and duplicate detection
To detect spam, we temporarily process a scrambled form of the visitor’s IP address and erase it after 30 days. Review text and the account fingerprints remain while needed to run and protect the directory or until a valid deletion request is resolved.
Email and Google Business Profile
We use an email provider for verification and publication notices and Google Business Profile with the account owner’s authorization. To access, correct, or request deletion of personal information, email support@awesomeopossum.ca.
Google permissions
Connecting Google asks for Search Console read-only access and the Business Profile management permission. Google offers no read-only Business Profile permission; we use it only to confirm that your listing is open and matches your website. We keep encrypted refresh tokens while a website stays connected and remove them on request.
Analytics and advertising
With your choice, we use optional analytics to understand page visits and completed actions, and optional advertising tags to measure campaigns on Google, Meta, and OpenAI. These providers may receive cookie identifiers and campaign click references. We do not send them article text, reviewer details, or account contact details as event fields. Optional tags stay off until you opt in; analytics and advertising can be chosen separately. Your choice is stored in a first-party cookie for 180 days across the main site and app. You can change it using Tracking settings in the footer. When you withdraw a choice, the page reloads to stop tags already loaded in that tab. Advertising campaign references are stored for up to 30 days only after advertising consent. Provider cookies may have their own retention periods and can be cleared in your browser settings.
Images
Photos and logos are uploaded by the business, stored on our servers, and shown from our own domain, so no other site learns that you viewed them. We re-save every image without its camera, location and editing information.
